black line Grappa Wine Bar
"This is the place to be if you want to avoid the attention of local revellers."

Richard (Hudson/Firehouse Rotisserie) Fenton may have handed over all responsibility for this nouveau-boho hangout, but the spirit remains intact. Food is largely of the huge, colourful, Mediterranean antipasti sharing platter variety, but that doesn’t mean that this is purely ‘drink too wet without it’ fare. Fresh, chargrilled prawns, authentic buffalo mozzarella, plump olives, oven-baked bread with first-rate olive oil for dipping and the kind of charcuterie not usually found outside of rural France abounds, while the pizzas (served downstairs in the bar or upstairs in the friendly little pizzeria) are crispy frisbees of dolce vita delight. It can feel a little bit lonely if you take a table towards the back on a quiet night, but when things get moving at the weekend, this is the place to be if you want to avoid the attention of local revellers. The ladies’ toilets, meanwhile, win the award for tiniest in Bath.

Take the kids?
A narrow entrance leads into a very grown up bar, there’s a staircase up to the pizzeria and tiny toilets don’t make baby changing easy; families are advised not to grapple with Grappa.
