A-Z of Restaurants in Bath
Monday 6th February 2012
Friendly, family-run, contemporary Indian diner on the edge of the city centre, offering wallet-friendly menus bolstered by a BYO policy. The Boojon is largely a no-frills experience, but the atmosphere often takes on a party vibe at weekends, when it’s better to take a place in the queue rather than accept a table in the rather chilly, isolated little room upstairs. A Studio 54-meets-Bollywood soundtrack that’s as lively as the flavours often accompanies your choice from the menus: very, very fresh exotica with a strong emphasis on vegetarian and seafood dishes in amongst the traditional ‘curry house’ selection of kormas, jalfrezis, biryanis, tikkas and rogan josh. The crisp, grease-free papadoms alone are outstanding in their field.

Bland, cold and unfriendly..
Based on the positive reviews we ventured to the Boojon. What a dissapointment – the onjon badghee was tasteless and without any of the typical flavours one would associate with the indian cuisine. I shall spare all of you my attempt of trying to describe the rest of the meal – the title I have choosen for this review does a nice job in summarizing this: the food is unfortunately tasteless, the restaurant is cold – huge draft created by, I assume the kitchen vents, which seem to impact also the temperature of the food leaving the kitchen (the sauces were tepid at best) and the service was uncapable – when pointing out that there were issues with the meal – the waiter suggest to bring more of it – unfortunately this would not address the underlying issue. Be warned and avoid – otherwise be prepared to be dissapointed like we were….We hailed a cab and mentioned the Boojon to the driver – his reply was and I quote;’Let me guess, the food was bland and service bad?’
Great, rich flavours and a wide variety of delicious dishes – excellent!
