black line Mezzaluna
flamboyant, friendly service, pre- and post-theatre deals offer great value...

Bath has several Italian trattorias that cover all bases, from the express formula to the shiny and new, with the family-run bistro snuggling up somewhere in the middle. On such a barometer, it’s hard to say where Mezzaluna is trying to settle, so make of it what you will while you peruse a reasonably good wine list and menu merriment aided by flamboyant, friendly service. Pre- and post-theatre deals offer great value, and if you veer your taste buds towards classic Italian treats such as carpaccio, excellent fresh pasta dishes, pork escalopes, salmone alla ligure and tiramisu, you won’t be disappointed. Oh, and don’t be put off by the restaurant’s subterranean location: once down the stairs, the vibe is bright and breezy.
