A-Z of Restaurants in Bath
Monday 6th February 2012
This bright little bistro is often overlooked in the ‘where to eat in Bath’ roll call, perhaps because it’s such a familiar feature on the Pulteney Bridge thoroughfare that it gets taken for granted. The Pig recommends that the No 5 revolution starts here! Although original chef/proprietor (local French superchef Michel Lemoine) has recently moved on to concentrate on new venture Bistro La Barrique, new owners Richard and Carole de Cesare have worked hard to maintain the original No 5 charm and continue to offer seasonally changing menus on a classic Mediterranean theme. The décor (breezy, open plan, lots of greenery) lends itself perfectly to low-key social shenanigans, making it the kind of place where you settle down to enjoy Bath at its most gracious rather than expecting to party. Having said that, the two-course/£8.95 Mon-Fri lunch menu is well worth making a song and dance about, while the two-course supper for £11.95 on Mon-Thur evenings provides welcome wallet relief.
