Yes, it’s a shop, specialising in… well, the name says it all, really: superb speciality sausages made to traditional methods with free range and GM-free ingredients wherever possible. Regional specialities sit happily alongside all kinds of exotic goodies and excellent veggie and gluten-free options. Meanwhile, an array of olives, charcuterie and interesting tracklements in the left-hand window entice those in search of a little bit of something else to accompany their bangers, and the Gold Medal black pudding is said to be the best in the West. But be sure to check out that chalkboard while eyeing the pies: £3ish gets you the Sausage Shop’s selected sausage of the day, which comes wedged into a huge slab of crusty bread and smothered in fried onions (an on-the-hoof pig-out few can resist).
