While The Pig sorely misses La Flamma (the lovely little Alsace-themed brasserie on George Street that closed its doors forever last month), we’re happy to see that those gorgeous premises will not be allowed to be overlooked for too long. Mediterranean-themed bar and grill Aio is due to open any day now; the Pig is already planning a staycation.
Just a few doors away, Bath Rugby hunk Matt Stevens’ new venture the Jika Jika Coffe House and Canteen offers an easygoing all-day menu alongside a well-stocked bar – scrummy indeed! – while across town, the Griffin Inn on Monmouth Street has undergone a complete transformation: what was once a careworn, dingy boozer is now a scrubbed-up paean to gastropub sensibilities. And as if all those new tastes aren’t enough to digest, the lovely Vito’s Italian Restaurant is now fully up and running in the cosy, cheerful Argyle Street nest left behind by Yak Yeti Yak when they flew to their new premises in Pierrepont Street.

If you go forth and explore before the Pig does, let us know what you think!
