Sawted!Tuesday, August 24th, 2010
It’s been a case of so far, so good for the recently-introduced Sawclose Sunday Market, which will continue to dominate the area that’s normally a car park every Sunday from now until the end of October. But fingers crossed the weather holds up and rain doesn’t stop play on Sunday 22 August, when Gascoyne Place’s second annual ‘Jazz on the Square’ event adds a full day of mellow live music to the eclectic market stall mix. This year, GP will use the event to raise much-needed funds for local cancer hospice charity Dorothy House; admission is free, and confirmed acts so far include GP Sunday Jazz favourites IKB4, Jean Paul Gard (featuring Alex Hutchings) and Miquid Licks, with more acts being added to the line-up as the great day approaches. Cool indeed – but hopefully not cool enough to necessitate bundling up in winter woollies and showerproof macs….
