Further festival frolics

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

All the restaurants involved in the glorious Celebration of Food Festival have now instigated their set menu deals, which run until the end of October (see ‘Offers’ on the opening page). But don’t overlook the date-specific special events taking place at some The Pig’s favourite destination diners. At £115, the Bath Priory’s Champagne Dinner (Thursday October 22nd) couldn’t exactly be called a wallet-friendly affair. But you get what you pay for: a four-course Michelin-starred dinner (with Gosset Champagne to match every course) in supremely elegant surroundings. Similarly swanky (but without the stress on the bank account), the Olive Tree’s head chef Nick Brodie will be serving a fabulous, five-course ‘Seafood Feast Tasting Menu’ (£45pp) for a whole week beginning on October 19th. Meanwhile, special game-themed menus (featuring locally sourced venison, wild boar, partridge and pheasant) at Gascoyne Place dominate from now until October 18th, and The Pig is delighted to hear that they’ll also be hosting another of their legendary Cheese and Wine evenings (with cheese from local artisan producer Todd Trethowan matched with wine selected by GP head honcho Marty Grant) on Monday October 26th (£20pp). www.celebrationoffood.co.uk
