Escape to the country and celebrate the first weekend in July (2-4) with sausages, cider, live music and a straw hat competition (hoorah!) helping the good times roll merrily along at Dick Willows Farm and Cider Shop – surely one of the most uniquely laid-back shopping/quaffing experiences for miles around.
Dick would also like Pig readers to know that his Big Apple Cafe is now up and running to accommodate grazers and quaffers all year round. As you’d expect from such a thriving farm shop, locally-sourced provenance is writ large on menus that start with a gert big breakfast (available all day for the less-than-early risers amongst us), taking in sandwiches, pizzas, paninis and a full-on afternoon cream tea as the day rolls along. Meanwhile, newspapers, a wood burning stove, free Wi-Fi, plenty of sofa space and a south-facing alfresco terrace complete the home-from-home experience. Bring on the barbecue? Watch this space!
