The month-long, annual south west ‘Celebration of Food’ festival kicks off at the beginning of October and, for the first time this year, Somerset teams up with Devon and Cornwall to make it a proper regional harvest festival. In Bath, the Hole in the Wall, the Bath Priory, the Garrick’s Head, Gascoyne Place, the Olive Tree, the Royal Crescent Hotel, demuths, FishWorks and Il Tocco d’Italia are all actively involved, offering either specific tasting events ranging from a Cheese and Wine evening/ celebration of local game at Gascoyne Place to a ‘Seafood Week’ at the Olive Tree and a Somerset Cider Festival at the Garrick’s Head, while all the restaurants involved are offering fabulous set menu deals starting at £10 for two courses. The Pig will, of course, be highlighting certain events and giving you prior warning nearer to the time; meanwhile, consider this bulletin to be your ‘taster menu’ of the treats to come.
