black line Stress-free bucolic frolics
Reliably good grub in characterful surroundings

In Bath, the veil that divides the city from the rolling countryside that surrounds our gorgeous little mini-metropolis is fairly translucent; you're never more than a short hike away from a watering hole that offers you the kind of 'getaway' experience that many less well-situated urbanites build their holidays around. But not all pastoral destinations guarantee a paradisiacal experience. Though picturesque villages and ancient pubs proliferate around these yer parts, so too do laconic locals and menus that revolve solely around industrial used of the deep fat fryer and the microwave (if, that is, they actually serve food). If you're in search of stress-free bucolic frolics, the Pig knows where to go.

Castle Inn

“Classic country pub destination - food was solid, if un-spectacular, but the rustic interior and fantastic destination were enough to plan a second visit”
