Suitably Summery!

While the announcement of forthcoming food-related arrivals at the new SouthGate centre offer little to get excited about( Pret a Manger, Pizza Express – ho hum), there’s plenty for foodies to get excited about elsewhere in the city over the coming weeks.

The beloved Moon and Sixpence (Milsom Place) are launching brand new summertime menus, Chequers (Rivers Street) is launching brand new ownership and the formerly less-than-salubrious Bar 08 (Lower Bristol Road) has undergone a complete change of everything – from ownership to decor – and quietly morphed into the tres stylish Brougham Cupboard cafe bar, now under the auspicious tutelage of the former La Flamma head honcho.

Meanwhile, the much-vaunted Hall and Woodhouse bar, restaurant and brasserie (Old King Street, on the site formerly occupied by Bonham’s Auction House) is all set for a grand opening on Wednesday 1 June and a few days later (Sunday 6 June) Bedlam hits Sawclose. Grab yourself a ringside seat on the alfresco terraces right on the square (including one especially created for the occasion at Gascoyne Place) and enjoy a whole host of free, live entertainment – including thrilling performances courtesy of Circomedia and the browser’s haven that is the FAB Arts Fair – all under the Bath Fringe Festival banner as you nibble, scoff or just quaff from some of the most easygoing menus in Bath. Don’t forget the sunscreen? Here’s hoping!
