What’s new? Quite a lot, as it happens…

Spring is just around the corner, and a whole host of fresh food-related yumminess is blooming around Bath.

The big news on the franchise front is that Yo! Sushi – the international chain credited with introducing British diners to the Japanese Kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt) presentation of sushi – is setting up shop in Milsom Place. But Yo! already has stiff competition in Bath, not least of all from two more similarly-themed new kids on the block: Thai on the Weir is making great use of the cheerful little bistro space left behind after the not-so-sad demise of Pastiche on Pulteney Bridge and Widcombe has a new Chinese restaurant in the shape of Hon Fusion. Where Yen Sushi and the Hong Kong Bistro have led, the newbies have followed; does The Pig detect a Far Eastern invasion?

Elsewhere, the lovely, lively Lime Lounge has taken over where The Pinch (St Margaret’s Buildings) left off and Beaubar (Monmouth Street) has morphed into the 1453 Bar and Grill On the shopping front, the Sicilian-themed Roscoff Deli has firmly established itself in Northumberland Place, and shoppers at the Guildhall Market have welcomed both Jack’s fruit and veg stall and his bakery with open arms. Look out for The Pig’s opinion on all of the above before the next crop of daffodils rear their pretty little heads.
