The Pig endeavours to make eating out in Bath an all things to all people experience: pleasurable, convenient and jolly good fun. But as we continue our fascinating journey behind the scenes of the city’s many restaurants, pubs and food shops, it has come to our attention that that there’s a serious dearth of advice made readily available to families or those with small children in tow; the kind of information (pushchair access, baby changing facilities, children’s menus, etc) that should be handed to customers on a plate is all too often hidden on a back burner while ‘grown up’ priorities such as WiFi access or ‘party menus’ are pushed to the fore.
Should you feel as passionate about this imbalance as we do, you can read a good old rant about it here. But there’s more to The Pig than hot air. As a service to little people everywhere, we are proud to introduce The Piglet: a resource that we hope will prove to be invaluable to all those who firmly believe (as we do) that good taste starts early.
As a result of our recent specific research activities, we’ve added a few more reviews to our expanding coverage of restaurants in Bath; for services to children, we heartily salute Pig newbies The egg Cafe, Strada and the Upton Inn. But check out the new ‘Take the kids’ info on all our listings and discover existing family favourites: the Bathwick Boatman, The Bear, Cafe Rouge, the Castle Inn, Demuths, Jamie’s Italian, the Marlborough Tavern, River Cottage, Velo Lounge, Wagamama, Yak Yeti Yak and Yen Sushi all top The Pig’s current ‘child-friendly’ chart. But if you’ve had an experience that leads you to beg to differ or want to make a few nominations of your own, please let us know; The Piglet needs you.
