The Pig Says...

Firehouse Rotisserie head honcho Richard Fenton is one of Bath’s most modest food heroes. The man responsible for establishing both Grappa and, latterly, the chic Hudson Bar and Grill (see listing) is also the force behind both the Bristol and Bath branches of the FR: long-standing but always fresh-faced favourites on the eating out scene. But do you ever see or hear him braying about his success? No. But The Pig is happy to do it on his behalf. At the original FR branch, find chunky furniture, a lively atmosphere and an open kitchen specialising in classic Californian fare (huge salads, gourmet brick-fired pizzas and great steaks, all with plenty of Pacific Rim twists) alongside top-notch rotisserie faves, including chicken, lamb and fish. Meanwhile, the building itself dates back to the Georgian era but the extensive wine list is bang up to date.

  1. Occasional Diner says:

We visited FH on 5 June. I ordered a chicken pizza with crispy bacon. Disgustingly greasy and burnt. The base wasn’t righ too. A day after my parter and I still speak about how bad it was:( The waitress offered to take it off the bill but the evening was ruined. Seems like pizzas is not the strongest item on the menu there.
